Flavorful Meatloaf with Gravy is exactly how it sounds. Very flavorful! You can put a spin on it and add your own veggies or do the traditional ketchup as a glaze. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Serves 8
Ingredients
2 pounds ground sirloin or turkey
2 tbsp olive oil
¾ cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup yellow onions
1/4 cup celery
1/4 cup red bell peppers
1/4 cup green bell peppers
½ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg
1 clove of garlic
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cayenne pepper
¼ cup of beef broth
1 handful of shredded cheddar
1 tbsp Liquid Smoke
Instructions
Heat oil in a medium saucepan.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Add and Sauté garlic, onions, celery, and peppers until tender.
Now set aside.
In a medium bowl, add breadcrumbs, egg, beef broth, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, salt, cheddar, liquid smoke, and mix well.
Now add the sauteed veggies and mix again.
Now, add the beef or ground turkey and mix well.
Next, shape meat into an 8″ x 4″ pan.
Then, bake on the center rack for 1 hour or until internal temperature is 160 degrees. Meat should be well done with no traces of pink.
Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Gravy Ingredients
3 cups Water
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 packet Onion Soup Mix
1 tbsp Garlic powder
1/8 tsp Black pepper
A dash of red pepper
Gravy Instructions
In a wide saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. When melted and sizzling, whisk in the flour. Whisk until the flour and butter turn into a smooth paste and looks golden about 1 minute.
Pour in water, garlic powder, onion soup mix and whisk until smooth. Bring the gravy to a low simmer. As it simmers, it thickens.
When thickened, remove from heat.
Now, add pepper.
