How to Make Simple Mexican Rice is a delicious recipe. There are many versions of this recipe. So, it is all about preference. What vegetables do you prefer? Add in the vegetables that you love to eat. If you decide to add a protein, that is also great. Do whatever you feel when it comes to putting your own spin on it. Mexican rice is known to have a softer and milder aroma.

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

1 cup long grain white rice

6 tbsps. olive oil

1/2 medium white onion

2 cloves garlic

1 bell pepper

2 Romo tomatoes

3/4 cup precooked turkey sausage

1/4 tsp ground black pepper

1 tsp mexican oregano

2 tbsp tomato chicken buillion.

2 cups water

Directions

First, using a strainer, you are going to rinse 1 cup of long grain white rice of 30 seconds or until water runs clear.

Now set the rice aside to dry.

Second, heat 2 tbsps. of olive oil in a large pan to heat and lightly brown turkey sausage (Or your sausage of choice) They sausage is already per-cooked. You are just heating it. Set aside until later.

Third, heat 4 tbsps. of olive oil in a large pan.

Fourth, add half an onion, 1 bell pepper, and 2 garlic cloves finely minced.

Now, sauté for 2 minutes.

Fifth, add 2 finely chopped Romo tomatoes. And sauté 5 minutes.

Sixth, mix in your rice and sauté for 30 seconds.

Seventh, add in your sausage and 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 1 tsp Mexican oregano, 2 tbsp tomato chicken bouillon.

Eighth, add 1 finely chopped jalapeno. And sauté for 30 seconds. Then add 2 cups of water.

Finally, stir and simmer for 15 minutes with top on pot.
