How to Make Swedish Meatballs is a very simple recipe for a delicious appetizer. You don’t need many ingredients. And it’s forgiving. You can add your own spin to it. Give it a try and see if you enjoy it.
Serves 6
Meatballs
1/3 chopped onion
1 large egg
1 egg white
2 tbsp water
1/3 cup beef broth
1 lb. of breakfast sausage
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp salt
1/2 black pepper
1/8 tsp allspice
Cream Sauce
1 1/4 cup of beef broth
1/3 cup of heavy cream
4 tsp cornstarch
1 tbsp apple juice
Dash of salt
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp garloc powder
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 fresh bay leaf
2 tsp olive oil
Instructions
Pre heat of to 350 degrees.
Combine meat, breadcrumbs, and seasonings in a large bowl.
Now, blend egg white, egg, broth, and water in blender until smooth.
Pour mixture into bowl with meat and use hands to mix well. Or use a food processor.
Mix everything until it’s a smooth consistency.
Now use an ice-cream scooper to create balls about 1 1/4 inches in diameter.
Place balls on non-stick cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Bake 12 minutes then turn over.
Now bake another 12 minutes.
Begin the Sauce
Combine all of the ingredients into a sauce pan over medium heat, EXCEPT the bay leaf.
Whisk as it bubbles.
Now that it’s bubbling, add bay leaf and reduce heat to simmer.
Simmer 7 minutes or to desired consistency.
Now, discard bay leaf.
Meatballs
Now remove from oven the sauté over medium heat with the olive oil.
After sauteing, pour sauce over them.
Now serve.
